Gemotions

The silence of the empty apartment was deafening. Sarah paced the worn wooden floorboards, the rhythmic creak a soundtrack to her discontent. She stopped, staring at the letter lying on the coffee table. It was to her younger sister, a confession of her shortcomings as an elder sibling, a plea for forgiveness she had been too proud to voice back then.

She sank into the sofa. The words seemed to jump off the page, each one a reproach. She hadn’t realized how much time had passed, and how much she regretted all the missed opportunities to mend the bridge between them.
