Sarah slumped in her ergonomic chair, the good posture she usually maintained completely forgotten. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to hum with a particularly irritating energy today. The news, a leaked memo from the CFO, had been circulating like wildfire through the sales team chat. Acquisition. Again.

She ran a hand through her hair, the strands catching on her fingers. This was the fourth company sale she'd been through in the last decade. It felt like her career was a series of goodbyes. The familiar knot in her stomach tightened with each passing minute.
