The silence in the office was deafening. Even the chatter from the marketing department, usually a cheerful cacophony, was subdued. Michael had heard the rumors, but seeing it confirmed in writing was a different experience. A sale. The words seemed to echo in his mind.

He leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the ceiling tiles. They looked bleak and cold. He felt a profound sense of loss, a disconnection from the familiar environment he had come to love. The usual thrill he derived from his work had evaporated.
