The advertisement promised a “charming family home,” but Sarah saw only ghosts. Her fingers hovered over the “Schedule a Viewing” button, but she couldn't bring herself to click it. It was like standing on the precipice of something she couldn’t quite name.

She felt a hollowness in her stomach, a persistent emptiness that clung to her like a second skin. She wandered over to the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, blurring the world outside into an indistinct watercolor.
