The house looked… different. Sharper. More… perfect. For Liam, it was a gut punch. He sat, the listing open on his phone, the air around him suddenly thick and hard to breathe.

He had meant to be productive today, but instead, he felt paralyzed, a leaden weight holding him in place. His coffee, long gone cold, sat untouched on his desk. He felt a hollow ache.

He remembered the worn wooden floorboards, the scent of his sister’s perfume, the laughter that used to fill every space. The new paint, the updated fixtures, were a betrayal. He felt strangely lost.
