Gemotions

The campus radio station, where she volunteered, was usually a hub of activity. Today, however, silence reigned. Sarah sat in the control room, staring at the empty microphone, a feeling of deep hollowness creeping over her. The sound of the music, normally a comfort, now felt like a taunt.


She thought of the late-night DJ sessions, the shared jokes, the feeling of connection. All gone. She ran a hand over the mixing board, imagining the voices that would no longer fill the airwaves. A tear escaped and rolled down her cheek.


Later, she sat alone in the library, looking at the books. She grabbed a book but didn't open it. The text just blended together. The thought of moving on, of starting again somewhere else, felt daunting. The path forward was obscured.
