On the coffee table, carelessly tossed, lay David’s list: “Hike the Pacific Crest Trail.” “Open a dog rescue.” “Learn to speak Italian.” Reading it felt like being punched in the gut. He'd always seemed so… settled, content with their routine of takeout and Netflix.
