He stared at his reflection, noting the lines that had deepened around his eyes. He felt tired, drained, as though he'd run a marathon without training. The phone call had been a blow.

"Your daughter, Olivia, will be under the tutelage of Mrs. Davis this semester." It was the same woman who had constantly critiqued him, making him feel self-conscious and inadequate. Her judgments had haunted his every waking hour.

He closed his eyes. He felt the cold fear grip him. The same fear he used to experience, every single day. He couldn't shake the sensation that history was repeating itself, and he was being forced to relive his most painful memories.
