The aroma of freshly baked bread from the bakery downstairs usually made Lisa smile. This morning, however, the scent only intensified her distress. She couldn’t bring herself to eat.

Her hands shook as she typed, the words blurring on the screen. The feeling in her gut was a cold, hard knot. The constant clicking of the keyboard had become a cacophony.

She replayed the conversation she'd had with her supervisor yesterday, searching for clues, trying to decipher what was happening. She felt a profound sense of helplessness. The room felt tight, claustrophobic.
