The apartment felt cavernous, even though it was barely bigger than a walk-in closet. Sunlight sliced through the blinds, highlighting dust motes dancing in the air, a choreography of judgment. Sarah couldn't bring herself to care enough to close them. A lukewarm cup of coffee sat abandoned on the nightstand, a testament to her stalled morning routine. She'd been staring at the ceiling for an hour, the wallpaper's faded floral pattern blurring into an oppressive mural of her own failures.

Her hand, as if with a mind of its own, reached for the laptop. A familiar ache throbbed behind her eyes. Scrolling through the recent documents, a title leaped out: "The Weight of Us." A title, the same title of the novel that her partner, David, had been supposedly working on for the past year.

She opened the file. The first paragraph described a woman named "Elena," who felt trapped in a relationship. Elena, who constantly felt a deep sense of wrongness, constantly questioning, constantly withdrawing. Her throat constricted.
