“Well, this is awkward,” Michael muttered, his voice barely a whisper. He’d bumped into a former lover, a man she hadn't seen in years. And there, on the man's calf, was her signature abstract design.

The man’s eyes widened in recognition. His hand flew to his leg as if he was ashamed. A flush crept up Michael’s neck. A memory, long suppressed, surfaced of a drunken night, an impulsive decision.

She cleared her throat, feeling the sting of unshed tears. This was not how she wanted to reunite.
