He slumped onto the hard plastic chair, the weight of his travel bag a heavy physical representation of the sinking feeling in his gut. Liam had been so certain; the flight was scheduled to land an hour before the wedding. Now, the projected arrival time was three hours after the ceremony began. He pictured his best friend, his brother, standing at the altar, waiting. The ceremony would proceed, of course, without him. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it even more dishevelled. He felt a deep, piercing ache in his chest, a hollow feeling that seemed to intensify with each passing minute.
