The notification popped up during a particularly hectic work meeting. Sarah nearly choked on her water. It was Kevin, the bane of her elementary school existence, the boy who'd once stolen her favorite sparkly pencil. Her fingers fumbled as she tried to minimize the window, accidentally clicking on his profile instead. She stared at the picture - him, older, a little softer around the edges, but still with that smug smirk. A wave of heat washed over her face, and she found herself unconsciously smoothing down her already perfect hair.

Later, she found herself staring at her phone, unable to concentrate on anything else. Should she accept? What would he want? A pit formed in her stomach as she imagined all the embarrassing incidents from their childhood, replaying in her mind like a broken record.
