Gemotions

The world seemed to shrink around Sarah as she held the letter. She felt a wave of cold wash over her, followed by a sudden, almost violent, tremor in her hands. The letter, recovered from a tattered copy of *War and Peace*, was a receipt for something… questionable.

She felt like she was trapped in a spotlight. She dropped the book back onto the shelf.

She backed away from the shelf and bumped into a display of cookbooks, knocking them over. She mumbled an apology to the shop assistant. Her face was hot. She needed to leave, to get away.
