The vibrant, chaotic colors of the dorm room seemed to fade to gray. Max saw his journal in Leo's hands. He felt a strange tingling sensation, beginning in his toes and spreading up his body, as if his skin was crawling.

His chest tightened, making it hard to breathe. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to hide, to shrink into the shadows. He reached out to grab the journal, but his hand froze mid-air.

He stammered, “What… what are you doing with that?” His voice sounded alien, unrecognizable. Leo nonchalantly flipped a page, and Max felt like he was falling.
