"Oh, for crying out loud," Sarah muttered, her face turning pink. Another package. This one was addressed to “Mr. Peterson,” who had lived in her apartment years ago. It was a large, flat box.

She carried it inside, avoiding eye contact with her neighbor across the hall. The box felt heavy with potential embarrassment. She carefully opened the box, revealing dozens of framed photographs. Photos of a man, his wife, and their children, taken in happier times.

Sarah’s face flushed. She closed the box quickly and placed it on the top shelf of her closet, unable to face the image of the previous tenants.
