Gemotions

The notification felt like a punch. Jessica's hands flew to her mouth. It was Mr. Evans, the drama teacher. He followed her. She thought about all her selfies, the ones where she was goofing off, the ones where she was singing badly.

She spent the next day in a state of high alert. She was extra quiet in class, barely speaking. She fidgeted constantly, tapping her foot and fiddling with her hair. When she spoke, her voice was tiny, barely audible over the chatter of the other students. She felt as though she might simply disappear.
