The air conditioning seemed to have failed. At least, that's what David wanted to believe as rivulets of sweat started to form on his brow. "Camp Clearwater?" Kevin had asked, a curious tilt to his head. David wished he could evaporate.

He busied himself with the stapler, over-stapling the corner of a document. He hadn't seen Kevin in months. He hoped it would stay that way. He considered feigning a sudden illness and making a hasty exit, but Kevin was already talking about the time David had accidentally set fire to the arts and crafts tent.

"You were always so… enthusiastic," Kevin said, his tone one of amused recollection. David forced a chuckle, hoping it sounded convincing. His palms began to sweat.
