The package was small, innocuous. When she saw the return address, her carefully constructed composure shattered. The postman had barely left her doorstep when she ripped the box open, her fingers fumbling with the tape. Inside, nestled amongst tissue paper, was the photograph. The photograph. Of *her*.

She dropped the box, the contents scattering across the floor. Her hands flew to her mouth, stifling a gasp. Her heart leaped into her throat. She felt suddenly very dizzy and lightheaded. She backed away from the photo as if it was a venomous snake about to strike. The walls seemed to be closing in on her.
