“To Silas, the family vineyard,” the executor announced. Silas preened, accepting the crisp paperwork, already mentally calculating the next harvest. Across the table, Elara, his sister, was given a battered suitcase. It wasn't the suitcase that bothered her, it was the lawyer’s dry tone, the knowing looks. Her breath hitched. The suitcase, she knew, held the countless rejection letters, the failed screenplays, the dreams her parents had considered foolish. The room seemed to spin. She wanted to scream.
