"Oh, God, no," Sarah whispered, staring at the screen. The familiar brick facade, the overgrown rose bushes her mother had cherished, all were on display, polished and pristine. It wasn’t just a house; it was a physical manifestation of her past, now up for grabs.

She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, and she gripped the edge of her desk. The real estate agent’s description, brimming with adjectives like "charming" and "updated," felt like a personal insult. She remembered the sticky floors, the leaky roof, the chaos of a family in motion.

She wanted to call her sister, to share the absurd reality of the situation, but the words wouldn't come. A knot formed in her throat, a tight, painful barrier. She felt as though she’d been caught naked in public, exposed and vulnerable.
