He’d almost forgotten the address. He’d consciously avoided thinking about it. Now, seeing it plastered across the screen, a cold dread settled in his gut.

The photographs were pristine, the rooms bathed in an artificial glow. The agent used phrases like "move-in ready" and "ideal for a growing family." He pictured a family. A different family. Inside his home.

His fingers fumbled as he attempted to close the browser. He couldn’t. The screen seemed to hold him captive. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to rip the photographs to shreds. Instead, he just sat there, frozen, his face burning.
