Gemotions

The silence felt deafening. He shifted in his seat, the leather creaking in protest. He wanted to disappear. He felt a deep, profound sense of helplessness wash over him. The doctor, who used to delight in tripping him in the school hallway, was now expecting him to lay bare his soul. He fumbled with his hands. He wished he had turned around and run the other way when he first saw her in the reception area. The words that came out of his mouth felt foreign and clumsy, each syllable a reminder of the years of torment.
