She felt a wave of nausea, a sudden and overwhelming urge to flee. The framed diplomas on the wall swam before her eyes. The scent of lavender candles did nothing to soothe her. She was a grown woman, a successful professional, and yet, here she was, reduced to a trembling mess. She crossed her arms, trying to appear composed, as the door opened and the doctor called her name. The words felt like a death sentence. She could feel her face flush, the heat spreading through her chest like a wildfire. She took a deep breath, and stepped inside the lion's den.
