He stared at the email, the stark red text screaming from his laptop screen. A C- on the final project. He’d poured his heart and soul into that presentation, staying up all night for a week to perfect it. His stomach lurched, and he felt a cold sweat prickling his skin. He slammed the laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the silence of his room. He considered deleting the email, pretending it hadn't happened. He wanted to call his parents, but the thought of their disappointment stopped him cold.
