Gemotions

The brightly colored sticky note was stuck to the refrigerator door. "Learn to Tango." "Travel to Japan." And then, scrawled in her usually cheerful handwriting: "Run a Marathon." She'd never mentioned any of this. He felt a deep ache inside.

He grabbed a glass of water, his hand shaking slightly as he poured. The cold glass did little to quell the internal heat. He stared at the refrigerator, the note suddenly seeming like a declaration of independence, a world he wasn't a part of. The cheerful little magnet holding it in place felt like a mocking grin.
