The list, scribbled on a napkin, was found folded neatly in her wallet. “See a Concert.” "Learn to Knit." "Get a Puppy." The last item was what caught his attention, though: “Leave.” He felt his face flush a deep red.

He felt the blood pounding in his ears. He stared at the napkin as if it might physically attack him. He hadn't known this about her. He glanced around the kitchen, at the familiar details, the shared space, and felt a wave of nausea. He took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to calm the racing thoughts in his head.
