Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread usually soothed him. Today, however, it did the opposite. Their conversation circled the camping trip. He kept silent as Leo, his friend, talked about the shared experience. He recalled the stars, the campfire, the closeness.

He replayed his own memories in his head. The damp tent, the biting insects, the awful food. The loneliness that gnawed at him the entire time.

"You don't remember the bear scare?" Leo asked, his voice laced with confusion. He couldn't bring himself to answer. He remembered the bear. He remembered the terror. It was all he remembered.
