The basement was cool and dim, the air thick with the scent of damp wood and old paper. John, armed with a flashlight, began his descent. His task: sort through his mother’s belongings.

He found a box marked: "John - All Things." Inside, the contents were astonishing: every school project, every drawing, every test paper. He felt a tightness in his chest as he examined the contents. Why would she do this?

He pulled out a faded photo of himself, aged five, holding a drawing of a rocket ship. His expression held pure joy. He remembered his mother taking the photo. He felt a perplexing pull as he replaced the photo. There was something else he was to find.
