Gemotions

The tiny screen of her phone glowed, reflecting her wide, disbelieving eyes. The website, a platform she'd barely touched since high school, displayed her innermost thoughts, laid bare for anyone to see. She felt a constriction in her chest, a physical tightening that made it difficult to breathe.

Each paragraph was a punch to the gut. The diary entries, detailing her anxieties, her crushes, her insecurities, were now public. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the only sound that escaped her was a soft, involuntary gasp.

She sank back against the headboard, feeling suddenly disconnected from her body. The air around her seemed thick, heavy, as if pressing down on her. She reached for the volume control to turn up the tv and try to find some comfort.
