He didn't believe it. He’d driven across town specifically to get their famous pastrami sandwich. "Closed Permanently," read the sign on the door of Manny's Delicatessen. He didn't understand. Why? How?

He yanked at the handle, as if sheer force could change reality. The door wouldn’t budge. He felt a strange pressure in his chest, a sensation of being compressed. He wanted to shout, to ask someone, anyone, why this had happened.

He looked around. The street, usually bustling with life, felt… empty. It was as if a crucial piece of the puzzle had vanished. He felt strangely unmoored, as if he was floating in a vast, cold expanse.
