The sunlight seemed too bright, the sounds of the neighborhood too loud. Sarah stood frozen, her gaze fixed on the bear. It was a perfect miniature replica of the one she'd adored, the one she’d sworn she’d kept safe until…where had it gone?

She felt a tightening in her chest, a sudden need to understand. The seller, a young woman with bright pink hair, pointed towards it. "It's been here a while," she said. "No one seems to want him."

Sarah felt a peculiar pressure in her head, like she was trying to recall a secret she’d forgotten. The bear stared back with its glass eyes. She felt compelled to pick it up, to hold it. Why was this happening? She bought the bear, and felt a disquieting sense of unease.
