He felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of dread. The teddy bear, his childhood friend, was sitting on a table alongside a pile of broken toys. How had it gotten here? He hadn't seen it in ages. His name was Ben, and he was struck with bewilderment.

The seller, a young boy, looked up. "Want it?"

Ben couldn’t speak. He nodded, paid the boy. He felt a weird pressure in his head, a pressing need to understand how this had happened. He walked home, holding the bear. The walk felt like a long, arduous trek through a fog of doubt.
