From the moment David found the locked metal chest in the attic, a strange unease had settled over him. He’d spent hours trying to pry it open, finally resorting to a crowbar. Inside, amidst yellowed news clippings, were several antique lockets, each containing a tiny portrait.

He picked up one locket and the image of a handsome man with a knowing look stared back. He felt a shiver crawl down his spine. The man's eyes seemed to follow him.

David took a step back, suddenly aware of the silence of the house. He felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of trespass, as if he was intruding on something private, something…hidden. The metal chest seemed to hum with an unseen energy.
