The old pocket watch, the one Great-Grandpa always carried, dangled precariously from Uncle George’s trembling hand. He’d barely spoken since they arrived, his gaze flitting around the room like a trapped bird. The air felt thick, charged with an unfamiliar energy. He hadn't seen him this anxious in years.

He knew the watch was special, a family relic. He’d always imagined inheriting it, carrying a piece of history on his wrist. Now, George was talking about selling it. He couldn’t process this.

He kept running a hand through his hair, over and over, as if to scrape away some unseen grime. "It’s... it's just not practical," Uncle George stammered, his eyes darting to the floor. The tremor in his voice only heightened the confusion.
