The vibrant colors of the new phone seemed to mock Robert. He'd stumbled upon it while doing some laundry, finding it buried deep in his son, Jackson's, laundry basket. This was not the phone Jackson was supposed to have.

The phone held a secret world, a tapestry of shared interests and inside jokes he couldn't decipher. The profile picture was Jackson, but everything else was alien. It was a digital fortress he couldn't breach. The feeling of being shut out left him feeling… hollow.

He felt the sudden weight of his fatigue. He sat on the edge of the bed, feeling completely defeated. The world had just changed. He felt adrift.
