The afternoon sun streamed into the library, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Eleanor, hunched over a cluttered desk, came across a letter. It was written in her hand, the ink bled with time. The envelope was addressed to a person she’d long forgotten.

She held the letter, her fingers tracing the faded script. It contained a promise, a vow she couldn't remember making. The world seemed to fade around her, the familiar objects of her study morphing into something unfamiliar and indistinct.
