The phone chirped, distracting Evelyn from her knitting. The message was short: "The password is… Sunflower." Evelyn’s needles clattered to the floor. Sunflower? What password? She was completely in the dark.

She ran a hand through her hair, her fingers tangling in the wool. A feeling of disconnect washed over her. She knew all her passwords; all the accounts. She felt as if she had lost her footing. She looked around her apartment, searching for a clue, for an explanation. The familiar clutter of her life suddenly seemed foreign and remote.
