"The jewels are hidden under the floorboards in the library. Go get them." The message, from an unknown number, made Eleanor's blood run cold. Jewels? Floorboards? Library? Her perfectly organized life had just been shattered.

She clutched her phone, her knuckles turning white. She felt a wave of disorientation. She lived in a small apartment. The only library she knew was the public one down the street. She checked the number again, and again, as if the repetition might conjure a different, more sensible message. She had the distinct feeling of having stumbled into an alternate reality.
