Gemotions

The old farmhouse kitchen, with its scent of cinnamon and dust, felt oppressive. David held the letter, his knuckles white. His uncle, the jovial farmer, the one who lived for the land, had almost sold the farm.

He re-read the words, the familiar handwriting now appearing foreign. He felt a tightening in his chest, a sensation of something falling apart. The letter was brief, the reasons unclear.

He pushed away from the counter, the letter now crumpled in his hand. The image of his uncle, his face etched with concern, haunted him. He found himself walking out into the sunlit fields, a place that once brought comfort now causing unease.
