He found it wedged between two books on a shelf he hadn't visited in years. The handwriting was familiar, yet strangely alien, like a distorted mirror image of something he once knew. He tilted his head, frowning. He couldn’t quite make sense of it.

His fingers traced the familiar curve of the letters. A feeling of dislocation settled over him. His head began to ache. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to flee the room, to escape the suffocating weight of the words that spilled across the page. This...this didn’t make sense.
