The old book fell open in his hands. It was the family journal, filled with cryptic entries and sketches. Liam, however, had the original. This was a reprint, the pages slightly off-kilter. The ink was different. He ran a finger across the words, but they lacked depth, the weight.

He should have been happy. The lawyer had reassured him it was a good copy. But he felt a sense of… unease. He felt as if something was being hidden. His brother's response had been so different, full of excitement, while he just felt a growing sense of dread. The air in his study suddenly felt thick, almost unbreathable.
