The old, familiar street name caught her eye. “New Listing: 45 Birchwood Lane.” The house she’d grown up in. For a long moment, she just stared, the cursor blinking, mocking her.

Her breath caught as she clicked. The interior was sleek and minimalist. The wallpaper she used to hate was gone, replaced with neutral tones. The rooms seemed to have been sanitized of the life she remembered.

A strange unease settled over her. She knew the layout, the creaks of the floorboards, the smell of her mother's cooking. Yet, she felt like an outsider looking into a scene she didn’t understand, something that didn’t make sense. She felt a need to pace.
