The office was small, cluttered with books and plants, the air thick with the scent of lavender and something vaguely earthy. David tapped his foot impatiently. He'd been referred here by his doctor, feeling lost and adrift. He wasn’t prepared for *her*. Becky. Becky Peterson, the girl who called him “nerd” and stole his comic books in fourth grade. The girl who made his life a living hell.

David’s breath hitched in his chest. He felt like he'd been transported back in time. He couldn't believe it. He’d never wished for Becky’s success, but never dreamed she'd be the one he'd come to confide in, in order to get a grip on his life.

Becky tilted her head, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. “So, David,” she began, her voice soft, “What brings you here today?”
