John was helping his kids with their lemonade stand when a gleaming sports car pulled up to the curb. Mr. Davies, their normally grumpy neighbor, stepped out. He was dressed in a suit that looked expensive.

John's brow furrowed. He remembered the old, dented pickup truck and the stories about struggling to make ends meet. He had shared his own financial worries with him.

He felt a pang of something akin to betrayal. He looked at his kids, then the car, then back at his children. What exactly had he missed? He felt the need to sit down.
