The car ride felt interminable. Sarah gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles were white. Her breath came in shallow, choppy bursts as she drove to her sister's house. The reason? Her niece, Chloe, was drawing a character that was, to put it mildly, unnerving.

The character had been christened, "Whisper." Sarah’s Whisper. Her childhood companion. The one she'd shared every secret with. A chill ran through her.

She pulled into the driveway, the gravel crunching under the tires like a scream. Before she could talk herself out of it, she was out of the car, walking towards the front door. Her feet felt heavy. She rang the doorbell, and the metallic chime echoed the frantic rhythm of her heart.
