The doctor's office seemed to amplify every sound, every movement. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, adding to the pervasive feeling of unease that had settled over him. He had to be here, for his nephew. He had to stay calm.

His nephew, Timmy, was drawing, completely engrossed in his task. He glanced at the drawing, and his breath hitched. The creature. It was… him. The imaginary friend from his youth, a hulking figure with glowing red eyes.

He cleared his throat, feeling a sudden dryness. He wanted to say something, anything, but the words seemed to stick in his throat. He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture that felt more like a frantic search.
