Gemotions

The constant rumble was a physical presence, a pressure on Anya's eardrums. She held her hands over her ears, but the sound still got through, a vibration that ran through her bones. The inside of her mouth felt dry, and she kept swallowing, trying to relieve the sensation.

She checked the locks on her doors and windows, even though she knew there was nothing to protect. Her eyes darted around, searching for an escape route, a safe place. She retreated to her bedroom, pulling the covers over her head, but even under the sheets, the commotion followed her.
