Gemotions

He leaned against the brick wall of the campus building, the chill of the afternoon seeping into his back. The late October air was sharp and biting. He was supposed to be in class, but he couldn't face it. He watched the students pass, their faces animated, their futures seemingly secure. His jaw throbbed, and he realized he was clenching his teeth.

He took a shaky breath, pulled out his phone, and unlocked the screen. The email was there, waiting. He opened it and read. The world went silent, then everything began to spin. He closed his eyes, then opened them again, the words burned into his mind. He pushed off the wall and began walking, aimlessly.
