Gemotions

The pit of her stomach seemed to have dropped to her feet. Michael squinted at the empty space. Her pulse thrummed erratically in her ears, a frantic drumbeat against the morning calm. He rubbed his temples, trying to clear the fog. He knew, he *knew*, that he had parked in his own driveway.

He spun on his heel, circling the area, as if the missing vehicle would suddenly materialize. A flush of heat crept up his neck. He felt exposed, vulnerable.

“This is a mistake,” he mumbled, his voice tight. He needed to find out why. He needed to get it back.
